Gerry's extensive marine construction, sales and marketing background enables him to successfully manage a national sales force and institute a sound marketing strategy which effectuates Portadam's rapid expansion potential.
As National Sales and Marketing Manager of Portadam, Inc., Gerry effectively governs all aspects of the sales force, which includes forecasting, overseeing project assessment & qualification, coordination and evaluation of site surveys, estimating, writing / reviewing contract documents and assisting each team member in realizing their territory's full potential. Gerry continually analyzes current and potential markets for the Portadam technology. This allows the development of a marketing plan that fosters growth and expansion. The plan employs the use and monitoring of Portadam's constantly evolving website, site photography, development of product brochures, ad design, media advertising, trade shows, formulating lists for direct mail, technical presentations, project submittals, video, power-point, membership and participation with industry affiliate associations and partnering with parallel industries.
Gerry made the transition from a hard hat diver to sales engineer in 1994 when he went to work for Laury Heating Company. Gerry exceeded the company's previous yearly sales record his first year with the company. Gerry also implemented various marketing schemes, which included cable tv ads, newspaper and media advertising.
While working for Divers / Mechanics from 1985 to 1994, Gerry served as lead diver and dive supervisor for most of that timeframe. Some of the larger projects include:
· New York City Water Dept. Croton Reservoir Intake System Rehabilitation Project, Supervised 6 Divers & Tenders that involved decompression dives in 100' of water. Employed safe diving practices to minimize the risk of decompression related injuries. Kept and maintained dive profiles / records and operated the decompression chamber using Navy "Sur D O2" Tables. Scheduled regular meetings with the project engineers to verify job progress and that project specifications were being met.
· New York City Marine Transfer Station Pier Rehabilitation (5). Supervised dive crews and performed diving tasks in the rehabilitation of five separate projects.
· NYC Pier 40 Rehabilitation, Supervised dive crews and performed diving tasks, which included the repair of 3,900 steel pilings in tidal zone and the installation of anodes for cathodic protection.
· Planned and implemented a total system for use in underwater video inspections. Purchased underwater cameras and all other related equipment.
Gerry worked as a marine diver and also performed marketing and advertising duties for several other diving companies from 1980 to 1985 which include: Walker Diving, Waterfront Diving, Tri-State Diving and Dryden Diving.
Interests: Hiking and landscape photography in the sw and travel photography.
